AIRSPACE: REVOCATION OF THE GOVERNOR'S DIRECTION UNDER ARTICLE 68 OF THE AIR NAVIGATION (OVERSEAS TERRITORIES) ORDER 2013
Introduction
A Direction was issued in the public interest on 12 March 2019, following the accidents involving Boeing Model 737-8 MAX aircraft operated by Lion Air (Flight 610) on 29 October 2018 and Ethiopian Airlines (Flight 302) on 10 March 2019.
The Direction was a precautionary measure that operations by Boeing 737-8 MAX and Boeing 737-9 MAX aircraft in the airspace of the Turks and Caicos Islands, should not take place.
Following an investigation, the cause of the accident has been identified, remedial action taken, and appropriate safeguards put in place to the satisfaction of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency
(EASA).
Direction revoked
The Turks and Caicos Islands Civil Aviation Authority, in exercise of the Governor's powers under article 68 of the Air Navigation (Overseas Territories) Order 2013, hereby revokes the Direction of 12 March 2019.
